Why Skiaah exists

Skincare grew a marketing department before it grew a data set for us.

Four gaps we built Skiaah to close, in the order we ran into them.

01

Clinical trials skew light-skinned

Sunscreen and retinoid trials disproportionately enrol Fitzpatrick I to III participants. Findings get generalised to everyone, even though pigmentation response, scarring risk and irritation thresholds differ meaningfully on deeper tones.

Research gap

02

Marketing claims outrun the evidence

“Clinically proven” often means one small internal study, not independent peer review. A percentage on a label rarely says at what concentration, over what timeframe, or against what comparison it was measured.

Trust gap

03

One routine, sold to every skin

Global routines get localised with a rupee sign, not with a rethink. Humidity, sun intensity and melanin density in most of India change how actives should be dosed and sequenced, and almost nobody adjusts for it.

Fit gap

04

Influencers replaced dermatologists as the default source

Reach became a proxy for credibility. Skiaah's job is to sit between the research and the reel: readable, cited, and honest about what is still uncertain.

Information gap

We're not dermatologists. We read the research, we grade it honestly, and we back every claim with a source you can read yourself.

We're writing our way through all four

Follow along as we publish the research behind every claim, gap by gap.
